Whether a new client has had a stroke a month ago or ten years ago, we are here to help them achieve their potential.

What to expect from neuro physiotherapy

At Therapeutics, we are dedicated to helping clients regain their independence after a stroke. Initially, we assess how the stroke has affected their ability to move. We’ll discuss specific activities that are now challenging and evaluate strengths and weaknesses, pain levels, mobility, immobility, spasticity, and much more.

Personalised treatment plans

We focus on finding ways to improve physical fitness and mobility, helping clients overcome and adapt to any changes. Our goal is to support clients in regaining their independence. We may challenge movement in ways they haven’t experienced for a while, encouraging neuroplastic change – the brain’s ability to rewire itself.

Managing fatigue and equipment support

Fatigue can often be overlooked after a stroke, so we work closely with clients to help them manage their energy levels alongside rehabilitation. We also provide advice on equipment that might make tasks easier, such as ankle support for a dropped foot, and assess whether Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) could be beneficial.

Hands-on support and individualised guidance

Our approach may be very hands-on or involve verbal guidance, depending on each client’s needs. The primary goal is always to improve strength, balance, and confidence.

Recovery is unique for everyone

Recovery after a stroke varies greatly from person to person, and no two journeys are the same. That’s why each session is tailored based on the initial assessment and how the client responds to treatment.

Recovery continues beyond six months

Improvements can and do continue for years beyond the often-cited six months. These gains come from increased fitness, strength, and, importantly, the brain’s ability to rewire itself. Like many aspects of life, consistent practice makes progress easier.

“I’ve been working with stroke survivors for over 25 years, and I truly enjoy witnessing the positive changes that are possible—especially many years after their stroke. It’s incredibly rewarding to help prevent deterioration and support ongoing improvement.”

Heather

“I’ve worked with stroke survivors in a variety of settings, and it’s always inspiring to see the impact that structured physiotherapy can have on quality of life. Whether someone is in the early stages of recovery or many years post-stroke, I enjoy helping them make meaningful progress at every step of the journey.”
