Strength & movement profiling

EasyBase Clinic 14

Understand how your body moves. Measure where you are. Know what to work on next.

Sometimes feeling better is only part of the picture.

You may be recovering from an injury, returning to sport, experiencing a recurring problem or simply want to understand your body’s strengths and weaknesses in more detail. Our Strength & Movement Profile combines expert clinical assessment with objective strength and movement testing to give you a clearer picture of how your body is performing.

Using specialist technology including force plates and handheld strength testing, we can measure aspects of your strength, power, balance, stability and movement that aren’t always possible to identify through observation alone.

What your assessment can reveal

Depending on your individual goals, your assessment can help us look at:

  • Strength and muscle performance
  • Differences between your left and right sides
  • Lower-body power
  • Balance and stability
  • Movement and landing control
  • How effectively you produce and absorb force

Your clinician will select the most appropriate tests for you rather than simply putting everyone through the same assessment.

Who benefits from a Strength & Movement Profile

You don’t need to be an elite athlete to benefit from a Strength & Movement Profile.

It may be particularly useful if you are:

  • Recovering from an injury and preparing to return to sport or activity
  • Experiencing a recurring injury or problem
  • Rehabilitating following surgery
  • A runner, cyclist, gym user or recreational athlete
  • Looking to improve your physical performance
  • Interested in identifying areas of weakness or asymmetry
  • Already following a rehabilitation or strength programme and want to measure your progress

From guesswork to measureable progress

One of the biggest benefits of testing is that it gives us objective information.

Returning to sport or activity isn’t always the end of rehabilitation. Sometimes people feel great, get back to doing what they love and then, two or three months later, either reinjure the original area or develop a problem somewhere else.

Why? Because being pain-free isn’t necessarily the same as being fully recovered.

There can still be subtle differences in strength, power, balance, stability or the way the body produces and absorbs force. These are things that can be very difficult — and sometimes impossible — to accurately see or feel during a traditional clinical assessment.

That’s where force plate and objective strength testing can give us another layer of information.

For example, two legs may look as though they’re working similarly during an exercise, but testing may reveal that one side is producing less force, absorbing load differently or compensating for a remaining weakness.

By identifying these deficits, we can make rehabilitation more specific and give you greater confidence that you’re not just ready to return — you’re better prepared to stay there.

Rather than simply working on getting “stronger”, we can identify what needs improving, where, and by how much.

Measure. Improve. Retest.

The Strength & Movement Profile can also be repeated after a period of rehabilitation or training.

This allows us to see whether the areas we’ve been working on have genuinely changed and gives you objective evidence of your progress.

Whether your goal is getting back onto the pitch, returning to running, improving your gym performance or simply feeling stronger and more confident in your body, the Strength & Movement Profile helps us make the next stage of your programme specific, measurable and personal to you.

Ready to return. Ready to stay there.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Strength & Movement Profile?

A Strength & Movement Profile is a comprehensive assessment that combines clinical expertise with objective testing to measure how your body performs. Using tools such as force plates and handheld dynamometry, we assess areas including strength, power, balance, stability and movement control to help identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.

How is this different from a standard Physiotherapy assessment?

A traditional physiotherapy assessment relies on clinical examination and observation. A Strength & Movement Profile adds objective data through specialist testing equipment, allowing us to measure physical qualities that may not be visible during normal movement assessment alone.

Do I need to be an athlete?

No. While athletes often benefit from objective testing, the assessment is equally valuable for anyone looking to improve their movement, reduce injury risk, recover from injury or understand how their body is functioning.

What are force plates?

Force plates are specialist devices that measure how you produce and absorb force when performing movements such as jumping, landing or balancing. They provide precise data that helps us understand how your body is performing beyond what can be observed visually.

What happens during the appointment?

Your appointment will typically include:

  1. A discussion about your injury history, goals and current activity levels.
  2. Selection of appropriate strength and movement tests.
  3. Guided practice of each assessment.
  4. Testing using specialist equipment.
  5. A review of your results and recommendations.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your results and the next steps to improve performance or support rehabilitation.

Do I need to commit to a package upfront?

No. There is no obligation to commit to a package before your assessment.

You can simply book the £70 initial Strength & Movement Profile, complete your assessment, and discuss the findings with your clinician. If a rehabilitation package is recommended and you decide to proceed, the £70 assessment fee will be deducted from the package price.

What happens after the assessment?

Your results will be explained in detail, and you’ll receive personalised recommendations. These may include rehabilitation exercises, strength training priorities, performance-focused programming or a plan for future retesting.
