Over the past month, we’ve been trialling a new addition in our clinic – the pelvic chair – and I wanted to share our early experiences and feedback.

Although it’s still relatively early days and we haven’t yet reached the full recommended course of treatment, the response from both clients and staff has been very encouraging. The chair has seen consistent use, and the short-term results we’ve observed so far are genuinely promising.

Building awareness and connection

One of the most common pieces of feedback we’ve heard is how effectively the pelvic chair helps individuals develop a deeper awareness of their pelvic floor muscles. Many users report feeling a clearer, more conscious contraction – something that can be difficult to achieve with exercises alone.

Even at this early stage, people are noticing benefits such as:

  • Improved engagement with pelvic floor exercises
  • Increased confidence in activating the correct muscles
  • Early improvements in symptoms, including stress incontinence

This enhanced connection is particularly valuable because it supports better technique and consistency in day-to-day pelvic health routines.

How the Pelvic Chair works

The treatment itself is straightforward and non-invasive. Clients remain fully clothed throughout the session, sitting comfortably on the chair while it delivers targeted magnetic pulses.

Each 28-minute session can trigger over 12,000 pelvic floor contractions – far exceeding what most individuals can achieve through voluntary exercises alone. Importantly, the intensity is fully adjustable, allowing each person to tailor the treatment to their comfort level.

A complement, not a replacement

While the pelvic chair is a powerful tool, it’s important to emphasise that it does not replace regular pelvic floor exercises. Instead, it complements them – helping to activate and train the muscles more efficiently, particularly for those who struggle to engage them effectively.

Think of it as a way to accelerate progress and improve overall muscle function, especially when combined with a structured exercise programme.

Who can benefit?

The pelvic chair can support a wide range of pelvic health concerns, including:

  • Stress and urge incontinence
  • Bladder weakness
  • Postpartum recovery
  • Vaginal prolapse
  • Sexual dysfunction

By strengthening and re-educating the pelvic floor muscles, it offers a supportive option for many individuals looking to improve both function and quality of life.
